The Global Impact of APTC’s Aunty Mili: A Story of Dedication and Achievement

Known affectionately as Aunty Mili by her former students, this remarkable woman has transcended the boundaries of her homeland to embrace an international role that underscores the transformative power of education.

Miliakere’s journey began with a deep-seated love for aged care, ignited in New Zealand in 2005. Working in rest homes, she rediscovered her passion for this vital field, which led her to pursue formal qualifications in her home country of Fiji. In 2015, she embarked on a new chapter at the Australia Pacific Training Coalition (APTC), earning her certificates in Aged Care and Home and Community Care. Her dedication didn’t stop there; she also secured a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, further enhancing her ability to make a difference.

Over her nine-year tenure with APTC, Miliakere earned respect and admiration for her commitment and expertise. Her former students, who affectionately remember her as Aunty Mili, praised her not just for her teaching skills but for her unwavering support and mentorship. Maria Buatoka, a student from 2021, reflected on Miliakere’s positive approach and impactful teaching, noting that Mili was more than an instructor—she was a friend and a guiding light.

Meresaini Vukilewa, another student, expressed deep gratitude for Miliakere’s exceptional support and clear explanations. It’s this kind of heartfelt dedication that earned Miliakere recognition and respect, paving the way for an exciting new role.
