Vanuatu Police Officer Inspires with Graduation from International Maritime Training in Australia

Vanuatu Police Maritime Officer, Inspector Bianca Simeon, has made her country proud by graduating from the Executive Officer Program at TAFE Queensland's International Marine College in Cairns, Australia. Her achievement marks a significant milestone not just for herself, but also for the representation of women in maritime leadership across the Pacific.

Inspector Simeon began her intensive training on 24th February 2025, dedicating months to mastering a rigorous curriculum that included 18 advanced maritime modules. From ship stability and emergency response management to advanced firefighting and tactical manoeuvring, the program was designed to prepare officers for high-responsibility roles at sea. She officially graduated on 27th June 2025.

She was one of 11 officers selected from across the Pacific, including Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Cook Islands, Tonga, Fiji, and Samoa. Her successful completion of the course not only demonstrates her professional capability but also her commitment to safeguarding Pacific waters through strong leadership and technical excellence.

Speaking at her graduation, Inspector Simeon said, “The Executive Officer program has significantly enhanced my knowledge and skills as a maritime professional. I'm confident that the skills and knowledge gained will contribute to my success in my future endeavours.”

The Vanuatu Police Force has extended heartfelt congratulations to Inspector Simeon, recognising her dedication, discipline, and the pride she brings to her nation. Her achievement serves as a beacon of inspiration for young Pacific Islanders, especially women, aspiring to serve their communities through maritime service.
