Faculty of Business & Management at SINU

These are the courses and entry requirements for the faculty 

• Bachelor of Accounting  - Completed Year 13/Form 7 Arts or Science or equivalent with a minimum GPA of 2.50 and a minimum grade of B in English, Math  and Accounting  or completed Diploma  in the respective  field of Finance and Accounting from any other recognized institution; or completed Year 12/Form 6 Arts or Science or equivalent with minimum aggregate of 15 with work experience of 3 years and above in Accounting & Finance.
• Bachelor of Business Entrepreneurship -  Completed Year 13/ Form 7 Arts or Science or equivalent with a minimum GPA of 2.50 and a minimum grade of B and above in English, Math and Accounting or completed Diploma of Business Studies – Finance or Administration with a B Pass; or completed Year 12/Form 6 Arts or Science or equivalent with minimum aggregate of 15 and less with work experience of 3 years and above in Administration or Accounting & Finance.

Faculty of Nursing, Medicine and Allied Health Science

These are the courses and entry requirements for this faculty 

• Postgraduate Diploma in Health Leadership & Management - Completed undergrad degree in a health science or related discipline, be under the age of 45 and have a minimum of 5 years’ professional experience in their field, most commonly in medicine, dentistry, nursing or an allied health science.   Candidates from sectors other than health may be considered for enrolment on the merits of their prior qualifications  and  work  experience  and  possession  of  sufficient  experience  to  warrant  posting  to  a  leadership position within the public sector.  Endorsement by the MHMS is preferred.
• Bachelor of Nursing - Acute Care Nursing - Completed undergrad degree in a health science or related discipline, be under the age of 45 and have a minimum of 5 years’ professional experience in their field, most commonly in medicine, dentistry, nursing or an allied health science.   Candidates from sectors other than health may be considered for enrolment on the merits of their prior qualifications  and  work  experience  and  possession  of  sufficient  experience  to  warrant  posting  to  a  leadership position within the public sector.  Endorsement by the MHMS is preferred.

• Bachelor of Nursing - Child Health - Practicing  registered  nurse  with  a  minimum  of  2  years’  experience  post  registration  practice  and  holds  a  HDN certificate attained at SICHE or equivalent or holds a certificate in nursing and has completed an in-service diploma, a bridging programme or equivalent course  or has completed another 3 years nursing  programme, an  in-service diploma and a bridging programme or equivalent course.
• Bachelor of Nursing – Midwifery - Practicing  registered  nurse  with  a  minimum  of  2  years  post  registration  practice  and  either  of  the  two  criteria below:  i. Holds a level 6 HDN certificate attained in SICHE or equivalent or ii. Holds a certificate in nursing and has completed  an  in-service  diploma,  a  bridging  programme  or  equivalent  course  or  has  completed  another  3  year nursing  programme,  in-service  diploma  and  a  bridging  programme  or  equivalent  course.  Registered  nurses  from outside Solomon Islands must provide evidence of the appropriate nursing registration and practicing certificate for the country from which they come from and academic evidence as in i and ii.
• Diploma of Community Base Rehabilitation - Completed F6 with B grade in English or previous education in Public Health or related field and 2 years of work experience/employment  with  the  Public Health  Unit  -  MHMS  and  formal  recommendation  for  further  studies  by Director Public Health and be less than 40 years of age. Interviews will be conducted.
• Diploma of Nursing - Completed Form 6 Science/Preliminary Science with B grade in Science, Maths and English and an aggregate of 18 and less or F5, trained and working as a registered nurse-aid for a minimum of 5 years with an award certificate of Pre-Diploma from a recognised institution.
• Diploma of Health Promotion - Completed F6 with B grade in English or previous education in Public Health or related field and 2 years of work experience/employment  with  the  Public Health  Unit  -  MHMS  and  formal  recommendation  for  further  studies  by Director Public Health and be less than 40 years of age. Interviews will be conducted.
• Diploma of Nutrition & Dietetics - Attain a minimum of Form 6 Education, with at least "B" grade passes in Math and English and Science subjects. Generally,  a  minimum  GPA  of  2.5  is  required;  or  Possess  a  level  3/4  SINU  accredited  certificate  qualification  in accordance with the SINUQF or equivalent; Have work related  experience of at least 2 years prior to the time of application; or mature students (not more than 40 years of age) will only be considered if they have reached form 5 level of education and possess five (5) years of related field experience.
• Diploma of Pharmacy Technology - Successfully  completed  Form  7  Science  or  UPC  IV  with  minimum  GPA  of  2.8  and  above;  Or  has  been  working  in Pharmacy for more than 3 years with recommendations by Pharmacy professionals.
• Pre-Diploma Nursing - Completed Form 5, trained and working as a registered nurse-aid for a minimum of 3 years.
• Pre-Degree Nursing - Registered  Nurse  with  level  6  Diploma  attained  at  SICHE/SINU  or  other  recognised  institutions  or holds  a  HDPH certificate and Diploma of Teaching certificate in Primary or Secondary attained at SICHE/SINU.

FACULTY OF AGRICULTURE, FORESTRY AND FISHERIES

These are the courses and entry requirements for these faculty 

• Bachelor of Science in Tropical Agriculture - Completed Year 13/Form 7 Arts or Science with a B or above grade in English, Math, Agriculture Science or other Science fields or Graduated with a Certificate in Tropical Agriculture or Diploma of Tropical Agriculture, Agriculture Business  or  Applied  Science  Agriculture  with  a  GPA  of  2.5  and  above  or work  experience  in  the  field  of  Tropical Agriculture for more than 3 years.
• Diploma of Tropical Agriculture - Completed Year 13/Form 7 Arts or Science with a GPA of 2.5 and above or graduated with a Certificate in Tropical Agriculture or any other certificate in the field of Agriculture, Forestry and Environment with a minimum GPA of 2.3 or Agricultural Science Teachers with a minimum work experience of 3 years; or agriculture Extension Officers with a minimum work experience of 3 years in Animal Husbandry, Crop Production, Quarantine, Research and Extension and Farm Management.
• Diploma of Environmental Studies - Completed Year 13/Form 7 Arts or Science with B and above grades in Math, Science, English and Social Study  or completed Certificate in Environmental Studies with a GPA of 2.8 and above or mature aged with a relevant work experience of 5 years.
• Diploma of Tropical Forestry - Completed  Year  13/Form  7  Arts  or  Science  with  B  and  above  grades  in  English  and  Agriculture  and  a  minimum grade  of  C  in  Science  and  Math  or completed  AEPAD  –  Adult  Education  Proficiency  Award  (Distance)  with  work experience of 3 years and above.
• Certificate in Tropical Agriculture - Completed  Year  12/Form  6  Arts  or  Science  with  B  and  above  grades  in  English  and  Agriculture  and  a  minimum grade of C in Math and Science or completed AEPAD - Adult Education Proficiency Award (Distance) Certificate with work experience of 3 years and above.
• Certificate in Environmental Studies - Completed Year 12/Form 6 Arts or Science with B and above grades in English, Science, Social Studies and Math or graduated from recognized universities in the field of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment, Health, Land & Survey and Meteorology or more than 35 years of age with more than 3 years of work experience in relevant related fields to environment such as mining,  community  based management conservation, quality control & occupational health and safety.
• Certificate in Tropical Forestry - Completed Year 12/F6 Arts or Science with B and above grades in English and Agriculture and a minimum grade of C in Science and Math or completed AEPAD – Adult Education Proficiency Award (Distance) with work experience of 3 years and above.
• Certificate in Fisheries Studies - Completed Year 13/Form 7 Arts or Science or equivalent with a GPA of 2 and above.

These are the requirements for this faculty 

• Diploma of Construction Management - Successful  completion  of  Certificate  IV  in  Trade:  Carpentry,  Plumbing  and  Electrical  with  B  and  above  pass;  or Building and Civil Contractors with 3 and more years in practice; or Fresh School levers who completed year 12 with a pass in trade subjects with English, Science and Maths
• Diploma of Survey - Completed F6/Preliminary with B grade in Math, English and Science.
• "Diploma of Photovoltaic Energy Systems - Completed Certificate IV in Electrical studies or equivalent and must possess industry experience."
• Certificate in industrial Drafting - Successfully completed year 12 with a Pass in B in Maths, English and Science.
• Certificate IV in Carpentry & Joinery - Successfully completed year 12 with a Pass in B in Maths, English and Science.

These are the entry requirements for Maritime Academy at SINU

• Basic Maritime Studies - Completed F5 with good grades in English, Maths and Science.
• Basic Safety - Completed F3 or current seafarer and must be medically fit.
• "Class 6 Master/Engineer (In-Service) - Has a valid BS1 certificate and valid medical report and has a sea-time record of more than 18 months."
• Class 5 Master  (In-Service) - Has a valid BS1 and C6ME certificate and a valid medical report and has a sea-time record of 18 months and above.
• Class 4 Master  (In-Service) - Has a valid BS1 and C5M certificate and a valid medical report and has a sea-time record of 18 months and above.
• Advanced Safety - Has a valid BS1 certificate and valid medical report.
• Adv. Certificate in Technology (Marine Engineering) - Completed Form 6 with B grade in Maths and Science and a safety course certificate with 2 years’ work experience in seamanship and be 18 and above years of age and medically fit.
• Engineer Class 4 - Successful completion of Engineer Class 5 and a required sea time of 12 months.
