Job : University Registrar - PNG University of Technology



The Registrar is the Head of the Student Registry Department and reports to the Vice-Chancellor. The position also entails the administration of the University's Council Secretariat, Governance and Policy Unit and the Divisions of Student Administration and Student Services & Facilities. It is a contract position and a Senior Executive Management team member.

Primary Duties:

Due to recent changes in the Executive Management structure, the roles and responsibilities of the Registrar now include:

Secretary to the Council and Academic Board and responsible for managing all academic and student administration, admissions, graduation, welfare services and all other nutters relating to student academic pursuits.

The Registrar will also be responsible for University Committees, Student Legal Matters, Governance & Policy unit, official publications, and is the principal advisor to the Vice Chancellor on rules and regulations about student administration.

Job Requirements:

Educational Qualification:

A Master's degree in Administration and Management.


Considerable experience of 15+ years at senior level management. Six (6) years of experience in student management and services is desirable, and nine (9) years of relevant experience in Training Supervision, Leadership, Finance & Budgets, Planning and Implementation, and conversing with acts, by-laws, statutes and legal matters.

Skills & Abilities:

Must have effective decision-making and negotiation skills with the ability to develop academic programs and policies. Must also have highly developed oral and written communication skills and strong leadership and interpersonal abilities.

Other requirements:

Sound knowledge of systems and operations of the tertiary Education sector, result-oriented, transparent & accountable, demonstrate high ethical standards & integrity, with a commitment to high accuracy and high-quality outputs.


Base Salary: PGK91, 201 — PGK111, 468 (local currency) 

Domestic Market Allowance: PGK14, 900 to K24.800 per annum. (local Currency)
