APPLICATION INFORMATION
Applications are now being accepted for Pacific Islands Leadership Program (PILP) Fellowship (Generation Eight). Applications can be submitted online.

Application Materials ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA AND REQUIREMENTSCitizens of the Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Republic of Fiji, French Polynesia, Republic of Kiribati, Nauru, Niue, Republic of Palau, Papua New Guinea, Republic of the Marshall Islands, Independent State of Samoa, Solomon Islands, Kingdom of Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu are eligible to apply. Applicants from all walks of life (government, business, environment, NGOs, health, media, agriculture, education and others) are encouraged to apply. The program is aimed at early- to mid-career professionals, spanning the ages of approximately 25-38. Applicants will be expected to have a fluent level of English. Applicants are encouraged to provide an English language test score (such as the IELTS), if one is available. Applicants will normally have a Bachelor's degree. Exceptions may be considered on the basis of other relevant experience and qualifications. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
At least three years of professional work experience and achievement Leadership track record in professional, public, and/or personal realms International experience and aptitude, including overseas residence, language skills, intercultural and diversity exposure Volunteer and community service experience Pacific Islands engagement: evidence of significant interest in and knowledge of the region, as well as commitment to its future prosperity. This might include employment in the region, classes taken at University, languages spoken, memberships and fellowships, specific projects, field studies, and areas of research interest Experience of cohort learning, working collaboratively in small teams or in large groups VISA INFORMATION
The East-West Center will provide J-1 visa sponsorship for those who require a visa to travel to the United States.

Cover Letter (maximum 300 words) State how you meet the Eligibility Criteria and Desirable Qualifications of PILP. Why are you applying to the PILP Fellowship? Explain how the PILP Fellowship fits within the context of your past experiences and your future plans. What elements of PILP interest you the most and why? What is a specific project or initiative in your organization/community (either new or ongoing) towards which you could apply the leadership ideas and skills learned in this fellowship? Curriculum Vitae (resume) List history of jobs with the most current position first and should indicate: Start and end dates (please list day/month/year for each) If you are currently working in the position, the end date would be listed as present Current Employer Current Title What types of duties you perform Education background with date the degree was received If you are currently enrolled in an educational program, you can indicate the date you expect to complete the program (month/year) Other items you can include but not required: Scholarships, fellowships, grants or awards you have received, including academic, professional or community service recognition; Positions of leadership that you currently hold or have held; Publications you have authored; Countries in which you have traveled extensively or resided, especially in the Asia Pacific region; Particular interests, experiences, skills and talents tht may be relevant to PILP; Community service or civic engagement activities; and Personal accomplishments which you feel are significant. Essay Question (maximum 400 words) Write about a leader you know personally (you must have met the person). It could be a family member, friend, colleague, boss, coach, teacher, community or spiritual leader - someone you know well. What is it about this leader and his or her behavior that you admire and respect? What makes this person a leader? Tell a story or give an example of a specific occasion, which you witnessed, when she or he exemplified excellence in leadership. This moment might seem small to others, but it was highly significant to you.
